Can You thin out a vape juice?

You can always turn up your wattage a little bit in order to compensate. High VG juices are better at producing thicker, better clouds. Pure VG is the best if you’re interested in cloud-chasing. However, if you take this route, you’re losing out on flavor. For better flavor, juices that are at least 50% ratio of PG tend to perform better.
How does your Vape liquid affect your vaping experience?
How your liquid behaves has a major impact on how it feels when you’re vaping. High PG – thinner vape but with more of a throat hit. High VG – fuller vape, not so much throat hit. Liquids that are richer in VG have a smoother feel but a slightly weaker flavor.

The PG and VG
Before we delve into what makes a vape juice too thick or thin, we must first discuss its two major components: PG and VG.
The problem of "thin" and "thick" liquids
As you may have seen on many vape juice products, e-liquids come in different ratios. These ratios tell you the balance between PG and VG, meaning that if you see a 50/50 label, there's a one to one ratio of PG and VG inside. The ratio can affect the thickness or thinness of a liquid.
Addressing these problems
The best way to address these kinds of problems is to try out a different ratio of PG to VG. If you already love your vape juices or are trying to achieve a specific experience, you may need to consider changing your device.
Conclusion
Do not worry about running into juices that are too thick or too thin. More often than not, a simple change to a different ratio will do the trick. That said, take this as a learning experience. All vapers have run into these problems and have learned from them. These experiences will take you a step closer to achieve that perfect vape experience.

Why use PG in eliquid?
The reason eliquid manufacturers use PG is that it is very easy to vaporise! It is also used in asthma inhalers and fog machines among other food products. PG is a thiner liquid that allows the liquid to soak into the wick a lot faster. This allows you to vape quickly in succession without the wick drying out.
What is the best ratio for shortfill eliquid?
The standard ratio in Shortfill eliquids (50ml and above) is usually 70/30. This is usually as when a person becomes accustomed to vaping they will start to look for bigger bottles and a smoother vaping sensation. 70/30 also produces bigger and better clouds which are great for vaping tricks and all day vaping.
Why is VG good for vaping?
VG, because of its sweet nature, can be found in cough syrups, toothpaste, and baked foods. VG also provides a smoother vaping experience. More experienced vapers will be looking for high VG after quitting smoking for some time. The biggest benefit of a higher VG ratio is the cloud production!
What are the ingredients in E liquid?
There are two main ingredients in e liquid; vegetable glycerine and propylene glycol. These two ingredients make up nearly the entire bottle of your e liquid.
Why does PG and VG separate?
PG and VG as explained earlier do not naturally mix together for a long period of time. If the bottle is left alone for a while, the PG and VG will start to separate. This is also the case if the e liquid gets too warm or too cold as PG and VG react differently at different temperatures. If you notice that your e liquid keeps separating, simply ensure that the bottles stay at room temperature and give it a good shake every now and again.

Carto? 50/50 may be too thick for a carto. I don't have much experience with cartos yet but I asked someone at Vapor Junction what a good ratio would be for their CE2 r4 cartos and he said he used 80/20 and he thought 70/30 might be good too?

for the most part 50/50 should work with a filler carto. For the ce2 it wont because ce2s suck! actually they dont at all. The wicking is terrible I use 50/50 for filler cartos (BOGE) and it works great!

I vape a lot that's higher VG than PG. Never have had a problem. Is it possible you're flooding your carto or atty?
LMP Senior Member Verified Member ECF Veteran
It's not the ratio of VG to PG that is the problem, it's how much it's thinned.

A little watter or alcohol would have improved the OP's vapor production quite a bit compared to what he is getting now!
guitardedmark Ultra Member ECF Veteran
water and alcohol never improve vapor production... It will thin the juice however.
