The first thing to be clear about is that sub-ohm vaping can be dangerous if you aren’t paying attention to your battery. As you drop lower in Ohms following Ohms and Joules Law of electricity, the battery will increase power output. It is imperative that you don’t exceed the amperage limit of your battery or it could lead to explosion or fire.

Can you use sub-ohm coils with low wattage?
I've often been asked if you can use 50:50 e-liquids in a sub-ohm vape tank. If you are using a tank designed for clouds, with low resistance coils and high power levels, you will probably find that the throat hit is too harsh. However, you can use 50:50 e-liquids in a sub-ohm tank if you really lower the wattage.
Can I vape at a lower wattage?
If you like a nice, strong throat hit, then use a higher wattage, but if you prefer your vape to be a bit smoother, use a lower wattage.
What happens if you vape sub-ohm?
The enhanced flavour happens because each draw on your e-cig when sub-ohm vaping, vapourises more e-liquid, so you are getting a more concentrated hit of flavour. Remember to use a lower nicotine strength though. Smoother vape - When sub-ohm vaping, you will use a lower nicotine strength e-liquid.
Is Sub-ohm vaping worse for you?
The 7 genes that were affected by both exposure conditions (0.15 Ω & 1.5 Ω) were dysregulated to a greater extent following exposure to e-cig aerosols produced under sub-ohm conditions (Fig. 3B). This suggests that sub-ohm vaping may be more detrimental to lung health than vaping under regular conditions.
What wattage should I vape at 0.5 ohm?
For example, a 0.5 ohm coil will vape best at 15 watts up to 50 watts. Another place you can look to find out the appropriate wattage range is on the coil itself.
What wattage should I vape at 0.6 ohm?
12-25 wattsIn contrast, the 0.6ohm coils have a recommended wattage of 12-25 watts. They are therefore classed as restricted direct to lung (RDL) coils, offering less clouds but conserving your battery and e juice.
What wattage should I vape at 0.2 ohm?
0.3 ohms - 40 watts to 90 watts. 0.2 ohm coils - 40 watts to 100 watts.
Is Sub ohm mouth to lung?
With a sub-ohm device, imagine taking a big breath through your mouth, direct to you lungs and exhaling straight away. Sub-ohm devices are designed to produce large clouds of vapour and use low mg nicotine.
What wattage should I vape at 0.4 ohm?
between 23-28 wattsThe 0.4ohm coil option performs at its best when used in higher wattage modes between 23-28 watts. The 1.2ohm coil option is best suited for use with either a classic or nicotine salt e-liquid, while the 0.4ohm coil performs best when vaped with a higher VG sub ohm e-juice.
Why is salt NIC not for sub ohm?
Nicotine salts are not recommended for sub-ohm high-powered devices because of the higher nicotine levels in nic salts. Nicotine salts use high nicotine strengths such as 50 mg nicotine levels compared to the usual 3 or 6 mg in regular e-juices.
Does sub ohm vaping taste better?
Pros of Sub-Ohm Vaping Secondly, more vapor also means more flavor. Although the wider airflow might diminish the flavor to some extent, unless you are doing direct lung hits, sub-ohm vaping usually increases the overall flavor. That is because you are inhaling a lot more vapor than when you are doing above-ohm vaping.
What juice is best for sub ohm vaping?
Vape juice for sub ohm vaping must have at least 70% VG content. A 50/50 or PG e-liquid will not work for sub ohm vaping. VG juice is thicker and made for low resistance vape coils.
Sub-Ohm Vaping: The Basics
Ohms law refers to the current of an electronic device, in this case the atomizer. Ohm’s law divides the voltage difference by the current. This comes into play when trying to create a thicker and more intense vapor while utilizing a lower resistance atomizer. You will get a more warm, throaty vapor with a lower Ohm.
What is Sub-Ohm Vaping?
Before explaining what sub-ohm vaping means exactly, it's important to discuss what an ohm is. An ohm is a standard unit of measurement for determining the resistance or capacity of an object (in this case your vape's coils) to conduct current.
Sub-ohm Vaping VS Regular Vaping
One of the key selling points of sub-ohm vapes is the fact that it lets you pump large amounts of watts into your vape. The result is a lot more battery power and e-liquid used up. What you get out of it in return is a warmer, denser, more intense, and flavorful vapor.
Performance
Sub-ohm vapes are more flavorful and produce more vapor compared to high resistance vapes. Higher heat mass from the thicker wires allow the coils to vaporize a lot more e-liquid. This is why you get a big increase in flavor and vapor production.
What does sub-ohm mean?
To answer this, we need to understand resistance and its important role in vaping. Resistance, which is measured in Ohms (Ω), tells us how easy or difficult it is for electrical current to flow through any given component in a circuit.
How did sub-ohm vaping start?
In the early days of vaping, it was common for coils to measure anywhere between 1.5Ω and 3.0Ω since they were designed for extremely low power output, tight airflow, and high nicotine strength e-liquids.
Sub-ohm has become a less relevant term in vaping
Although Sub-ohm is still a commonly used term in the vaping industry, it’s not as relevant as it once was. This is primarily due to advancements in coil design, which mean that resistance is no longer the only indicator of a coil’s capabilities or intended use.
What are the benefits of sub-ohm vaping?
The properties of sub-ohm/DL/RDL coils allow them to produce a totally different vaping experience, which can be summarised in three key points.
What are the disadvantages of sub-ohm vaping?
Although the benefits of sub-ohm vaping are important to many people, there are some disadvantages to be aware of.
Which products are suitable for sub-ohm vaping?
You will need to choose a suitable atomiser and device if you want to try sub-ohm vaping. Innokin offers a wide range of sub-ohm capable devices, so you can have a great experience without compromising on build quality, ease of use or affordability.
What kind of e-liquid is suitable for sub-ohm vaping?
Since sub-ohm/DL/RDL vaping operates at higher power levels, you’ll need an e-liquid that is suitably formulated for larger coils, lower throat hits and big clouds of vapour.
Why is sub ohm vaping better?
Think of it in this way, the less resistance there is to something, the easier it is to overcome. In the case of sub ohm vaping, a lower resistance atomizer allows more current to pass through it. Increased current causes a metal element to heat faster. As a result, more e-liquid is more rapidly vaporized.
How to use sub ohm vape?
Here are the key points to remember: 1 Sub ohm vaping uses atomizers with a resistance of less than 1.0 ohms. 2 Also called DL, or Direct Lung vaping. 3 Use regulated mods, mech mods are dangerous. 4 Use sub ohm vape tanks as opposed to building your own coils.
What is temperature control vape?
Temperature control vaping uses sub ohm atomizer coils. But instead of setting the wattage, the user instead selects a vaping temperature. Most modern sub-ohm vape mods come with a temperature control option. This is usually denoted as a TC mod.
What is the difference between a sub ohm and a regular vape?
This is the main difference between sub ohm vaping vs regular vaping. Sub-ohm vape mods produce bigger and thicker clouds as compared to regular mods. Because there is so much more vapor, the vape liquid used for sub ohm atomizers tends to have less nicotine than a standard e-cig.
What is the most common sub ohm battery for a vape?
The most common sub-ohm box mod vape batteries are 18650s. There are also 20700, and 21700 but 18650s are the most commonly used.
What does DL stand for in vaping?
Sub Ohm vaping is also called DL vaping. DL stands for Direct Lung Vaping which means that the vapor is drawn directly into the lungs.
What is the most important component of a sub ohm vape?
The most important components in sub-ohm vaping, on which the reliability and robustness of the entire unit depends, are the vape batteries. Therefore, it’s extremely important to comprehend the capabilities as well as the limitations of the batteries you’re using. Especially their discharge rate.

The vapor is warmer and there's more of it. I personally like cooler vaper as I think it has better flavor and it's easy on my throat. I have started making some ~1.7 ohm coils for my bolt though. I went down to 1.3 ohm and some of my mixes changed flavor too much. I'm not sure, but I think it might be the things that caramelize that causes it.

I'm a noob at low resistance RBA 's with mechanicals, but I can tell you that I never liked high voltage/wattage vaping on my regulated mods, but, I am thrilled with sub ohm vaping using AGA-T2 (SS mesh wick so far) and a mechanical. Provides amazing vapor, flavor and throat hit. In fact, it is so intense, I lowered my nic.

Because it is, in every way, a superior vape. Total control, too. If you wrap a fat wikicoil with wide spacing between wraps you can get the mellowest (although extremely full flavored and vaporlicious) vape you've ever had @ .8-1Ω. If you want a firecracker, you can do tightly spaced wraps on a thin wick.

I'd mentioned this in another thread; but, hey . . . . . . I've never heard anyone say, "yeah, I was vaping sub-ohm; but then I tried this 2.5Ω on a VAMO, and, man, that's way better!" (heard the inverse a lot)

Ugh, I'm so confused. All I know about ohms is you double them to match what watts you're using. Ex, I have a 2.0 ohm clearo, so turn my batt to 4 watts.
Is Sub-Ohm Vaping Safe or Dangerous?
Sub-ohm vaping is becoming very popular, especially with advanced vapers who want more control of their vaporizers. They want to create greater flavor and cloud production.
Is Sub-ohm Vaping Safe?
Yes and No. Increased amperage puts a strain on the battery creating a lot of heat. Your sub-ohm atomizer coils get pretty hot too, which is why they don’t last as long as above ohm coils.
