The short answer is people who want a consistent vape experience or more ‘oomph’ in their vape. The electronics contained within a VV/VW device will automatically adjust the voltage or the wattage to keep it at a constant level.

Simply put, the higher the voltage you set, the higher the heat. This will intensify or lessen certain variables of your vape. A lower voltage setting allows more subtle flavors to come through since some delicate terpenes may not be discernible with higher heat.Jan 20, 2021

What does wattage mean in vaping?

To put it another way, watts is essentially how much power your vape produces and voltage is how much power is put through the device. So, as you increase the wattage the voltage also increases and vice versa.

How does variable wattage work?

The variable wattage device will then automatically adjust the power going through the atomiser (the voltage) to produce the power output you need (the wattage).

What does ohm mean in atomizers?

An ohm (Ω) is a unit of resistance. Essentially, the lower the resistance of your coil, the more electricity will flow through it. Increase the amount of resistance and less electricity will flow through. So when you use a lower resistance atomiser, and more electricity flows through, you will find the following:

What is the difference between variable voltage and variable wattage?

The difference between variable voltage and variable wattage is a bit like the difference between an automatic and a manual car. With a variable voltage device, you manually control the amount of power (voltage) going through your device.

What is a vape device?

Vape devices use simple circuits that contain a battery, a switch and a heating coil. The circuit is effectively a controlled short, with the power output from the battery used to create heat.

What is the resistance of a sub ohm coil?

The term sub-ohm, while still used, is not as relevant as it used to be. Coils below 1 ohm are common, and coils with a resistance of 0.8 ohms are often used for Mouth-to-Lung vaping. Even lower resistance coils, such as 0.15 coils, are often used for cloud vaping.

Taste Comes Into Factor When Selecting The Right Voltage or Wattage For Your Electronic Cigarette Pen!

The higher the voltage or wattage is set on, the faster the battery will drain.

Why?

The reason people go for vape devices where you can change the power output is because they are seeking something more from their vaping experience.

When?

You may wish to try out different e-liquids containing different amounts of nicotine, different ratios of PG/VG, different flavours of e juice or using a different atomiser/resistance coil.

How?

By altering the flow of current through the coil it will heat differently. You will find a setting that works for you, one that produces the flavour and vape you find more satisfying than the fixed voltage from an Ego/vape pen style battery.

Watt?

An typical vape pen battery contains a 3.7 volt battery and most of the atomisers for it are around 1.5ohms.

Who?

The short answer is people who want a consistent vape experience or more ‘oomph’ in their vape.

Equipment

There are two main types of vape device that you will come across, a device with replaceable batteries and ones that have integrated batteries.

Which is best – Voltage or Wattage?

Batteries do not give out a consistent voltage, it fluctuates up and down and most people favoured wattage settings, as this setting would compensate for the fluctuations.

The Formula for Resistance

They say that within every great vape pen you’ll find a great coil. While this is true, the coil of your vape pen creates a resistance factor that you have to overcome to achieve your optimal vaping experience. The coil’s resistance can be measured numerically in ohms.

Variable Voltage Allows for Manual Control of Vape Pen Power

Many of the old school vape enthusiasts prefer the hands-on approach and heightened user control of adjustable vape pen voltage. If you’re using a vape pen with adjustable voltage features, you’re going to want to get well acquainted with the power formula above.

Variable Wattage Presets Your Vape Power

By comparison, variable wattage is a much more user friendly feature. With adjustable wattage, you can basically set the wattage to your preferred vape power and it will automatically adjust the voltage upward or downward to compensate for varying resistance. No matter which coil you choose, the adjusted wattage will remain the same.

Some people aren't fantastic at finding square roots. A much simpler formula is just to double the ohm and then you've got your max voltage. Then adjust to a setting anywhere at or below that level to find your sweet spot. A little less math... still just as satisfying.
