In most mechanical mods, the top cap includes a pin that touches the top of the battery and the bottom of the atomizer. In a hybrid mod, the atomizer pin goes through a hole in the top cap and touches the battery directly, reducing power loss and potentially improving vapor production.

What is a vape auto firing?
The term “auto firing” refers to a vaporizer that is firing, but without the user pressing the main fire or power button. The device is often being stored in a pocket, purse or drawer when it happens, not even within reach of an accidental button push. Why is My Vape Auto Firing a Dangerous Issue?
Why won’t my vape MoD fire?
If your mechanical mod won’t fire and has a VapeSafe fuse installed, you first need to correct the over-current condition. Depending on the VapeSafe model, the fuse will trip at around 6 amps. With a fully charged 4.2 volt battery, this means that the resistance of the atomizer can’t be lower than about 0.7 ohms.
Which way do the pins go on a mechanical mod?
Your mechanical mod may have as many as three adjustable pins: one for the bottom of the battery, one for the top of the battery and one for the atomizer. Often, the pins are reverse-threaded, so they come out when turned clockwise.
What is the most important part of a vape mod?
The section immediately surrounding the center pin is the insulator. If the insulator fails to do its job of keeping the positive and negative contacts separated, the risk of a hard short is almost inevitable. This tiny piece of your vape mod is probably the most important as far as safety is concerned and most often overlooked.

What are the holes for on a vape?
These air holes control the amount of fresh air that can 'get in' to your vape device when you push the fire button. If your airflow is open (or 'wide'), then you'll get a large cloud of cool vapour. An open airflow allows lots of fresh air to dilute your e-juice cloud, so flavours tend to be harder to pick up.
What is a 510 pin on vape?
A descriptor of the threaded connection used to join parts, “510” literally refers to 10 threads at 5mm. This type of threaded connection quickly became the standard for most e-cigs and vape pens, making it easier to use various cartridges and pens together.

How do I increase the airflow in my vape?
Increase your power Increasing the power of your device will allow you to vaporize e-liquid at a much quicker pace. People have discovered that vaping with a powerful battery, and a low resistance coil is an effective way to increase vapor production.
Why is my coil burning after 1 day?
Ensure Your Tank Is Properly Filled While this might seem obvious, the first port of call when your coil is burning is to ensure that it is properly saturated with e-liquid. Allowing your tank to run on empty while still vaping will inevitably cause dry burn, which can permanently damage the coil.
Why is there no vapor coming out of my vape?
While low vapor production can be associated with a low battery charge, more often than not it has something to do with your e-liquid. Check your tank to make sure you have enough e-liquid. If your tank is completely full but you still have weak vapor, it is possible that your atomizer or coil has been flooded.
Are all 510 cartridges the same?
Are all vape cartridges compatible with each other or only ones that are the same brand? Most cartridges are compatible, as they share a 510 screw thread, allowing each to fit into standard batteries.
Where is a 510 pin?
The 510 connector get its name from the length of the connector and the amount of threads it has for it to make a connection. It runs 5mm long and 5 threads is on the male connection, which is on the atomizer, and the other 5 is on the female connection, which is on the battery or mod.

What direction do the pins come out on a mod?
Often, the pins are reverse-threaded, so they come out when turned clockwise. You’ll want to adjust these pins so your mechanical mod makes firm — but not overly firm — contact with the battery and atomizer. Be warned that if you over-tighten, you could deform the top and/or bottom caps of the battery.
How does a mechanical mod work?
A mechanical mod uses resistance to keep the button away from the bottom of the battery when the device is not in use . Early mechanical mods used springs — and many less expensive mods still use them. However, the preferred method is to use two magnets inside the button.
How to fix a mechanical mod that isn't firing?
When your mechanical mod isn’t firing, the first and perhaps most obvious troubleshooting step is to try a different battery. The batteries used in most mechanical mods are considered “dead” when they drop to about 3.2 volts. A battery discharged below this level may not be able to fire an atomizer coil and may, in fact, be unsafe to use. Swap out your current battery for one that you know to be fully charged and see if the mechanical mod fires. Because a mechanical mod has no display to supply information about the battery, many mech mod owners find it very helpful to use a battery voltage checker periodically.
Why won't my mechanical mod fire?
A mechanical mod won’t fire if the atomizer has a problem. Some of the problems that might occur with an atomizer include damage to the coil or, if the atomizer has never worked with your mechanical mod, a center pin that doesn’t touch the top contact point inside the mod’s threading.
What is mechanical mod?
Mechanical mods are prized by a subset of e-cigarette users for their low cost and simplicity. They’re also ideal for e-smokers who build their own atomizer coils, because they always output the full voltage of the battery to the coil — nothing is lost to wires and chips. The one thing that mechanical mods lack, though, is feedback.
Why won't my mod fire?
At this point, the mechanical mod won’t fire because pressing the button will no longer complete the circuit. You’ll need to replace the hot spring before the mod will fire again. More importantly, though, you’ll need to correct the situation that caused the short to begin with.
How many amps does a vapesafe fuse trip?
Depending on the VapeSafe model, the fuse will trip at around 6 amps. With a fully charged 4.2 volt battery, this means that the resistance of the atomizer can’t be lower than about 0.7 ohms. Of course, many people build atomizer coils at 0.5 ohms and even lower, so they don’t use VapeSafe fuses.

Why does my vape tank leak?
Leaking happens when e-juice escapes from your tank, usually through the airflow system. Depending on the reason behind it, leaking can range from a few drops of e-liquid, to having your tank emptying all of its contents all over your vape mod. It’s a common problem with even the most popular sub ohm tanks.
Why do multi strand coils pop?
Multi-strand coils often pop and spit due to their design. Twisted coils in particular have a bad reputation for this, but Clapton coils may have the same issue. Their design makes it easier for e-liquid to pool on the coil, and so sometimes it’s hard to entirely avoid popping on these coil types.
