What is the best coil for vaping?

The alien coil is one of the most popular in vaping, but also one of the most difficult to make. You have to master the clapton and the fused clapton before tackling the alien. The default alien coil is 3 cores (main wires).

How to calculate alien coils?

To do the alien coil math, you need to stop thinking about the gauge, but the wire diameter which is in millimeters. For an alien coil in 3 cores, the math is simple, because you will have a Decore on 26. But what if you do 5 cores, 2 cores and other complex stuff. The calculation becomes complicated.

How is an alien Clapton coil made?

Ordinary alien clapton coils have three equal sized cores, wrapped with ‘alien’ wrap, which is made by making a single core clapton thats 1/3rd of your final core width (if you are making 3 x 26 gauge aliens, your de-core ‘alien’ wire is made by wrapping a thinner gauge around one 26 gauge wire).

What size wire do you need for alien coil?

Alien Coil Wire: If you do decide to try and build your own Alien coil, 26 and 36-gauge kanthal wire can be found on most vape supply websites. They are reasonably priced and you feel much more accomplished creating an Alien coil from scratch instead of buying a pre-made one.

70 - 80 wattsThese coils are suitable for use between 50 -100 watts, but offer optimum performance at 70 - 80 watts. The N1 coils are rated at 0.13ohms for sumptuous and sensationally-flavourful sub ohm vaping and are designed for use with the VooPoo Uforce and Uforce 2 tank models.

What is airflow on vape?

Airflow is the amount of air that can pass through your coil or atomizer when you are hitting your vape device. Having adjustable airflow allows air to freely flow through your coils to your mouth!

Why does my vape taste burnt with new coil?

That burnt taste can occur if there's not enough e-liquid on the wick inside your atomizer coil. The wick is the part of your device that soaks up the e-liquid, which is then turned into vapour when the coil heats up.

Are alien coils good?

They are great in almost every deck, be it an RTA or an RDA, and both in single and dual-coil builds. They are also a better fit for mechs from a safety perspective (my dual builds came out between 0.14 and 0.16 ohms), although the vape will be too cool for most people.

What coil is best for flavor?

The best ones to go for flavour wise are clapton, titanium (if you prefer vaping with TC mode) or an Alien coil. The sweet spot for getting a balance of vapour and flavour is around 0.3ohms. Depending on your coil choice you'll want to up the wattage from anywhere between 50 and 100 watts.

What is the best wattage for a 0.4 ohm coil?

23 - 28 wattFor example, a 0.4-ohm mod may recommend a 23 - 28 watt setting, and a 0.8-ohm mod may recommend you use up to 35 watts. Some recommendations can go much higher (e.g., 200 watts). Sub-ohm devices work best when using a high VG vape liquid (e.g., a VG/PG ratio of 70/30).

What ohms should I vape at?

The standard or regular level of ohm when it comes to vaping and your clearomizer is between 2.4 and 2.8. This is by far the most common ohm range chosen by those looking for replacement coils, with the most commonly chosen being 2.5.

Does higher Vg burn coils faster?

See PG vs VG for more information This means that juices with a high VG content (70 % or higher) can cause problems with wicking and may ruin your coils. So if you're regularly running into issues with dry puffs and burnt coils, it could be the vape juice you're using.

How do you know when coil is bad vape?

Signs it's time to change your vape coilA burning taste. Vaping a dead coil will eventually result in an acrid, burning taste. ... Gurgling sounds. Vapes shouldn't gurgle. ... Weak or “off” e-Juice flavor. This often precedes a burnt taste. ... Low vapor production. The vapor produced by your coil will gradually lessen with time.

Why is vape gurgling?

A pod vaping device, or pod begins gurgling because excess e-liquid is caught inside the pod's atomizer coil assembly. There's more e-liquid than the wick can hold, so you begin to hear a bubbling or gurgling sound when you inhale.

How many cores are in an alien clapton coil?

Ordinary alien clapton coils have three equal sized cores, wrapped with ‘alien’ wrap, which is made by making a single core clapton thats 1/3rd of your final core width (if you are making 3 x 26 gauge aliens, your de-core ‘alien’ wire is made by wrapping a thinner gauge around one 26 gauge wire).

What is an alien coil?

Alien Coil. An alien coil, or alien clapton is a coil design that evolved from the clapton coil. A core of thicker wire (or grouping of wires) is wrapped within an outer coil of thinner gauge wire much like a clapton, but in the case of the alien build, the outer wire wraps are made from wires that have previously been coiled ...

Can you use alien wraps on a core coil?

Alien’ wraps can be used on pretty much any kind of core coil, so long as the de-cored clapton outer wire was made on a base core thats roughly 1/3rd of the diameter of your intended final cores.

What is staple coil?

A staple coil is a thinner gauge strand tightly wrapped around a stack of typically 8-10 flat ribbon wires. This variation of the fused Clapton has a quicker ramp-up time due to the stacked ribbon cores. The tiny grooves in between the wraps trap e-juice and contribute to its enhanced flavor.

What are Clapton coils made of?

Pre-made Claptons and exotic coils. When vaping first came about, coils were just made out of thin single-strands of metal. Since then, vapers have been coming up with innovative ways to enhance their vape experience, whether it be through bigger clouds or better flavor. Inevitably, the Clapton coil was born.

How many cores are staples made of?

They are made with a thin outer strand wrapped around typically 8-10 stacked ribbon cores. Staples have a quicker ramp-up time than fused Claptons of the same resistance. They are more difficult to make than fused Claptons but attainable with enough practice.

What is an alien deck made of?

Aliens are usually thick and require a deck with large post holes or a clamp-style deck. They are made with a de-cored Clapton wrapped around three or more parallel cores. Aliens have a slower ramp-up time than fused Claptons of the same resistance.

What is fused Clapton?

A fused Clapton is essentially a parallel build that’s been “Claptonized.”. Most multi-strand coils like Aliens are also fused together in a similar fashion. The concept originated from a builder known as Squidoode, and it was popularized by Twisted Messes and other popular builders.

Why do aliens have a slower ramp up time than fused Claptons?

Aliens have a slower ramp-up time than fused Claptons due to their larger surface area. The textured outer wrap is achieved by building a regular Clapton, then carefully removing the inner core. Then, it’s wrapped around a multi-strand core containing the same gauge as the original core that was removed.

What is a framed staple?

The framed staple is a cross between the staple and the fused Clapton. It consists of stacked ribbon wire framed by round wire, fused together, or “Claptonized” by thinner round wire. The different cores create spaces within the wire which give it better flavor than a standard staple and actually decrease ramp-up time.

What is rebuildable coil?

Rebuildable coils have been created for the purpose of being used with rebuildable atomisers. They require a far greater knowledge to use safely, including knowledge of Ohm’s Law, battery safety and general vape knowledge. Rebuildable coils are the pinnacle of customisability, as they allow you to pick an exact resistance and use metals ...

What is a vape coil?

Vape coils are the replaceable element in vape kits and tanks. It is the coil that takes the power from your vape battery and turns it into heat, which is then used to turn e-liquid into vapour. Inside a standard coil model, you will find a length of coiled wire wrapped around an absorbent wick. The wire creates heat, while the wick absorbs ...

What is mouth to lung vaping?

Mouth to lung vaping describes the process of inhaling vapour into your mouth and then carrying it into your lungs, the same way you would smoke a cigarette. This style is especially popular amongst new vapers as it feels very familiar.

How is coil resistance measured?

A coil’s resistance is measured in Ohms. Ohm’s Law describes the relationship between current, power and resistance, and is very useful to understand as it directly relates to vapour production, which can help you decide which coil is right for you. A common analogy for understanding Ohm’s Law is to imagine the plumbing in your home.

What to do if your coil is loose?

On your coil you may see small rubber rings, called O-rings, they act as a seal to ensure your tank doesn’t leak when it’s filled with e-liquid. Before installing your coil check that the O-rings are intact.

How to tell if a coil needs changing?

The quickest way to tell if your coil needs changing is by taste, if you notice a taste like burnt metal or fibre then we recommend replacing it straight away. If the cotton in the coil has taken on a dark brown or black colour it means that it has begun to deteriorate.

Do sub ohm coils produce more vapour?

While preferred nicotine strength is often a personal choice, it’s important to remember that sub ohm coils will heat more e-liquid to produce more vapour. What this means is that you’ll also experience a greater nicotine hit.

What are some alien wrap styles?

there are some variations in alien wrap styles like stitched, interlock, enigma, hedgehog, razorback and tsuka as well. first tip: if you want perfect aliens, you have to be able to make your decore from start to finish with no mistakes, tight spacing and equal tension.

Can you put a streched DC on a spool?

Putting streched dc on spools risks tangling. Just clip dc in half, attach to drill, strech, and throw it over your shoulder to keep it off the floor or your messy bench.

Can you use a vice in a drill?

Using a hand vice in the drill is really handy for lots of builds saves mucking about bending the legs getting them into the chuck in here you can place them flat side by side and centrally picked mine up from Amazon for about 10quid

What are atomizer coils made of?

Most atomizer coils are made from Nichrome or Kanthal. But there are different wire types that some vapers use. Nickel, Titanium and Stainless Steel are also available, but less popular. These tend to be used for temperature control vaping and aren’t suited to all e-cigs. But that is for another time.

How does an atomizer head work?

An atomizer head converts energy from the e-cig battery and heats the coil inside, this then vaporises e-liquid that is soaked into the wicking material, which is then inhaled by you.

What is coil in vape?

The coil is a component inside the atomizer. But as we know, the world of vape lingo is vast and when you say coils, we know what you mean. If your vape mod is the body, atomizer heads are the heart, a fundamental part of your vaping experience.

What is the resistance of an atomizer?

Well atomizer heads have an electrical resistance value measured in ohms (Ω). Depending on the amount of electrical resistance will depend on what ‘ohm’ your atomizer head is. Atomizer heads generally fall into two categories. High and low resistance.

What happens when you press a button?

When you press your button, it provides power to the coil. This then converts that energy to heat (If you could see your coils, they sometimes glow red when you are pressing your button), and vapourises e-liquid from the saturated wicking material.

Do vapers use e-liquid?

Some vapers prefer an atomizer head that lasts a long time, doesn’t use much e-liquid through the day and they don’t look for larger clouds of vapour. Other vapers are satisfied exhaling large clouds of vapour and are happy topping up with juice more frequently. The best thing to do is experiment.

Do you need to worry about Ohm's law?

If you vape a regulated e-cig, for example an arc 5 or Optimus, you do not need to worry about Ohm’s law as the device sorts this for you. If you use an unregulated e-cig, such as a mechanical mod then you need to be aware of Ohm’s law and battery safety.

From left to right why dont you tell the folks what those wires are. I love exotic builds, fused claptons are my go to. They just pump flavour. I like the first two wires on the right hand side, they look different then normal twisted wire.

Fused Claptons are my go-to as well. I've got a 2x26g n80 & 1x 24g A1 claptoned with 34g A1 in my mx v3. 6 wraps dual = .18 ohms of amazing flavor

I've actually heard that's how it's supposed to come out Tom, that you're supposed to straighten it from there. How people like BlueEyedGoon are able to get them so perfectly aligned is beyond me. His alien stovetops are flawless ... Nonetheless, yours looks good! A pain in the *** maybe, but it looks like you're close!

I've tried to do a couple alien wires and every time I reverse clapton the wire, it doesn't seem to want to stack like it should. Quite frustrating.
