What should you look for when buying vape coils?

The variables to consider when looking at vape coils are the wire material, resistance, and the shape or style of the coil. Each of these components are combined in any given coil to provide it with its unique profile and affect its tank compatibility, ramp-up, flavor production, vapor production, and style of vaping (i.e. DTL or MTL).

Can vapers be allergic to nickel coils?

Some people have been known to make claims that their nickel allergies were triggered by vaping, but that could just be psychological in nature. On the other hand, despite the lack of evidence of any danger, vapers with sensitivity to any coil material should probably consider other options to be on the safe side.

I searched around and couldn't find an answer that helped me directly with something I'm trying to figure out. I have a Koopor Primus 300w triple battery in-series box mod and I'm using the TFV8 Atomizer with the Rebuild-able engine. I put the engine and coil stats below.

The way to determine the metal of your coil is off the box the coils came in. If not metal type is specified (Ni, SS), it's almost certainly Kanthal which is used in wattage/power mode only. Obviously, if you make your own coils you'll know exactly what's in there.

How hot can nickel be?

Here’s the thing: vaping devices don’t actually reach those temperatures – though I suppose there could be some custom-designed devices or little-known units that do.

What temperature does stainless steel melt?

To be more precise, stainless steel has a melting point that is somewhere between 2400 and 2750 degrees Fahrenheit. Obviously, you never reach those temperatures when you’re cooking over a stove, and you certainly don’t come close to exceeding that tolerance when your pan goes into the oven.

Can stainless steel be used in vaping coils?

Another point that some people often raise is that the stainless steel used in vaping coils often contains alloys other than the steel. For example, the metal nickel appears in some alloys, causing some to speculate that there could be a danger of ingesting the metal if the high heat impacts ...

Is nickel safe to vape?

Nickel has been one of the most-examined metals used in vaping products, and it’s been given some pretty harsh reviews by people throughout the industry. All of these negative assertions have been based on the danger that nickel is known to possess as a poison – and the belief that it is possible that the metal could somehow make its way into the human body through vaping. The thing is though, that none of those assertions mean much unless it is indeed possible for that leeching to occur.

Many advanced vapers opt to create their own vape coil builds. Using materials such as kanthal, stainless steel, and nickel, vapers can create their own coils using vape coil wire. Although there are many vape coil lists on the internet purporting that vape coil kits are essential for building coils, you can begin with a few simple tools.

Wicking materials

Remember the wicking material we mentioned earlier? lt plays an essential part in pushing along the process that takes the e liquid in your tank and turns it into vapour. Without it, there would be no vapour production. Wicking material is intertwined with the coil itself to ensure an even coverage.

Cotton

By far the most widely used material, cotton is now the top choice for beginner and more advanced users alike. We recommend organic cotton as opposed to manufactured, as the latter can contain dangerous chemicals if not produced correctly. Cotton is favoured because it is a highly absorbent material.

Silica Rope

This material was more common in older generation vape devices, until the community discovered that cotton is far more efficient. A positive of using silica rope in your vape coil builds is that it is a long-lasting material that creates an intense flavour experience.
