Usually with frequent use for me I have to replace cotton about every few days to each week or when I change flavors. Coils are a different story they take much longer to need replacing up to a month or two. If ur coils look nasty and black, remove the cotton then bring ur vape/rba to the sink and turn on cold water.

It also depends on your personal preference. Some people don't mind going a long time in between wick changes (especially if they only vape one particular flavor), while others are more diligent and want to swap out their wick every single time they refill their tank. It's up to you.

just change the wick and dry burn the coil till it burns all the gunk off.I usually pulse the button when i dry burn and dont let it get too hot because It can burn ur insulator and it will pop a 28 guage coil at .3 ohms if you hold it down too long (from my experience).I've been running the same .3 ohm coil for about 2.5 months now.I usually take the wick out and dry burn it about once every 4-5 days.If you are using a heavy VG juice you might have to change it every day or every other day..

When you get that taste, you general need to at least dry burn your coil. If you use cotton or another organic that can't take a burn, you'll have to remove it first to do that.

KGD was once a day. Rayon is every 4 or 5 days. Readywick once every couple of months if not longer.

I agree with changing the wick when you receive a bad taste but the coils last forever. As long as my coil burns from the inside out when I dry burn...........I keep using them. I literally go months on the same coil. Each time I dry burn I also check the resistance. Good luck to you. Now I could be doing something wrong, but it works for me.

As an RBA and RTA user I can say that with a diy coil you only have to really change the cotton regularly. Just slide the cotton out of the coil, dry burn the coil and rewick.

I've played around with this idea a little. I have an opinion about it I'd like to share mostly because I want to find out if I'm missing anything or if there is more I could learn about it. In general I believe the following to be true:

For me, the risk of something going wrong -- even with the best of plans and intentions -- isn't worth it. If I want a coil that's cleaner than just a dry burn, I just build a new coil. Wire is cheap. Hospital bills are not.

Types of wick materials

The most popular type of wick material is still cotton. Cotton wicks are extremely common and inexpensive, and many people prefer using them. You can buy a bag of cotton balls at virtually any store in the world, so you’ll never be without wicking material). The second most common option is rayon, a semi-synthetic man-made fiber.

How long do my coils last?

Generally speaking, you should replace your atomizer coils every few days. This depends on how often and how hot you vape, of course. A lot of that depends on what type of vape mod you use.

Should you change your wick when you change flavors?

The wick definitely absorbs your e-liquid, so if you’re switching out flavors you’re likely going to get a bit of residual flavor from your previous juice.

What about dry herb and concentrate vapes?

Dry herb vaporizers don’t use wicks, since there is no liquid to absorb. But the coil (also known as the heating element) can degrade over time. Most manufacturers sell complete heating chambers for replacement. You can replace your heating chamber whenever you notice that the vapor quality and production is declining.
